Dr. Nini Bautista Given Global Leader Award
The second annual Global Leader Award was presented to Dr. Nini Bautista at the 16th Annual Mayor's International Community Awards (MICA) at The Westin Charlotte on May 22. The award was given in recognition of Dr. Nini's dedication to strengthening the cultural diversity of the Charlotte region through her leadership and achievements with countless Charlotte organizations.. Dr. Nini is a current member and former chair of the Carolinas Asian American Chamber of Commerce (CAACC). She is also the founder and chair of the Miss Asia Carolinas multicultural event. CAACC Chair Dr. John Chen won the inaugural award last year.

Also in attendance were the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the United States of America, Jose Cuisia, Jr., and the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to the United States of America, Akan Ismaili. Ambassador Cuisia remarked on the event, "I truly appreciate the opportunity to meet Dr. Nini Bautista whose important work and leadership in the field of science and technology was recognized today. I am proud that she is Filipino-American and there is no doubt that FilipinoAmericans in Charlotte who form part of over 29,310 Filipino-Americans in the State of North Carolina benefit from and contribute to their local communities and the USA. I am happy that MICA helps highlight hers among many other economic and social contributions. I also appreciated meeting international companies who give philanthropic support to non-profit organizations."
